The Ugly One's Prime Rib

Delicious and inexpensive, this poor man's prime rib is the ideal main dish for celebrations and formal dinners.

Prepare a whole dinner for less than half the price while still enjoying succulent meat chops.

Prime Rib for the Poor Man's Diet

Round roast of beef, weighing three pounds

teaspoon of garlic powder

One teaspoon of onion powder, plus salt and pepper to taste

Properly Preparing Poor Man's Prime Rib

Get the oven hot, about 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius). Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the roast before placing it in a baking dish or roasting pan.

Do not add water or cover.

Put the roast in the oven when it's ready to cook. Turn down the heat to 475 °F, or 245 °C.

Allow the roast to rest in the preheated oven for two and a half hours after roasting for 21 minutes (or seven minutes per pound). At this very moment, you must not open the door.

Roasts should be taken out of the oven when their internal temperatures reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius). Before serving, thinly slice the meat.
